Getting ready for your fur baby

Image
Once you have decided to get your new fur baby, you will need to prepare. Now this sounds alot harder then it really is.  Since this is going to be your only puppy in the house there are things you will need to get. You will need to get a food and water bowl. English Bulldog are very sloppy drinkers. I would recommend an elevated bowl that catches the water. These are pricey but your floors will thank you. The picture below is what I bought and love it. It can all be taken apart to clean. It catches water in the bottom.  If you are going to kennel train your puppy (which I highly recommend) you will need to buy a kennel and figure out where you are going to want to put it in your house. I would suggest getting a kennel that your puppy can't move around to much in at first. You will upgrade the sizes when they start growing. You want your puppy to be able to stand and turn around comfortably. At first I wouldn't put any fancy blankets in their kennel. Sta

Getting Puppy Ready

Now that we have decided to get a puppy. It is time to get what we need for our house. I will break this down in two different blogs. One being if you already have dogs and the other is if the puppy is your only fur baby.  My husband and I at this time already had two dogs. We had an older boxer female (Sadie) and a very old dashound (Mr. Weenie). Which we still had to this day.  So we already had the basics. What we did need to get was some toys, her own bed, and blankets just for our new puppy to make her feel more at home.  On the blankets we didn't want to get her anything to fancy because she is a puppy. So the likely hood of her messing it up was very high. We went to our local Walmart and bought a little throw blanket. Which at the time was only two dollars. It was a cute little blanket, it was red with dog bones all over it. Now to the toys, we wanted to get her some toys that she could chew her little heart out and not mess up. When puppies are teething it is v

Today I am going to tell you about my search for our first English Bulldog. Like I said in a previous blog, my husband and I thought long and hard about if we were ready to get a puppy. When we finally decided to get one that is when the work began.  We would search on the internet every night and I'm not going to lie it was frustrating some nights. On this one night we found one woman selling a blue dapple female English Bulldog for $500 and we fell in love with her. The only problem was she would only send us the same couple of pictures and she refused to send videos. She also lived in a different state so she wanted all of the funds cash apped to her that night. Well I did a little bit of research and found out that it is hard to find a  blue dapple under $2000. So that was a red flag. So I searched the image on the internet (I explain how to do this in my Take the fear out of shopping  blog) I found that same picture all over the internet. It was a professional phot

When we got serious about getting an English Bulldog. I was amazed by how many scammers are out there "trying to sell" puppies. I had never really thought about scammers in the puppy world, but I guess scammers will try anything to steal from people. I am going to tell you some tips and tricks I learned while on the hunt for our puppy. With the way the world is, the best place to start your search for your fur baby, that i found was Facebook. Breeders create their own Facebook pages to get their name out there. Alot of them will have a link on their page the goes to their website. The problem with looking online is it gives scammers a chance to try to fool you. My first tip for you is if it is to good to be true. Then it probably is a scam. This isn't a secret that Bulldog puppies are not cheap. Well if the price for the puppy you are looking at is really cheap. Its a scammer. One thing I learned is to use a photo scanning app. Its really easy you just save the picture

The decision making

This is a very exciting, fun, but also stressful time in deciding if you are ready to own a Bulldog. There is alot of different things to think about. Are you ready to take care of a puppy? Are you financially stable enough to own a Bulldog? Are you willing to do the research? My husband and I had always wanted an English Bulldog. We would look at pictures online at night. Me wanting every puppy I saw to him being the sensible one telling me I can't have 100 dogs. We talked ourselves out of the getting an English bulldog i dont know how many time. Telling ourselves that they have so many health issues, to their so expensive. Well when we finally pulled the trigger and got our precious little girl it was one of the best decisions we made. It has its ups and downs but I wouldn't trade her for the world. We were lucky one year my husband got a really good Christmas bonus from work. We had already bought all of the kids Christmas presents that year. Well besides the stocking. I a
